When you are scheduled for surgery at ENT Surgical Center, your physician’s office may schedule you for certain laboratory and radiology tests. These tests may be performed on any laboratory or hospital that is covered by your insurance carrier. Please let the scheduler know where you plan to have your lab work done so that we may call them for results.
You will receive a call from one of the nurses at ENT Surgical Center the day before your surgery to let you know what time to be at the surgical center and to ask you questions about your general health. Please let the scheduler know where you can be reached the day before surgery if you do not plan to be at home. If you have not received a telephone call from the nurse by 2 p.m. the day before your surgery is scheduled, please call the surgical center before 5 p.m.
It is very important that you not have anything to eat or drink several hours before your surgery. This is for your safety. Make sure you follow the nurse’s instructions exactly.
Arrive On time It is very important that you arrive at the surgical center on time as instructed by the nurse in your telephone call the day before surgery.
Bring your insurance card with you. Make sure that you notify the receptionist if your insurance has changed. You may be asked to pay a co-pay if one is required by your insurance. For your convenience, we accept all major credit cards. If payment on a day of surgery is not possible, we will be happy to make arrangements with you.
Limit the number of people with you. We have limited space in our waiting room. Please limit the number of people with you to no more than two. Only two people are allowed into the pre-op and recovery areas with the patient.
Wear loose front opening clothing. This should be something easy to get in and out of.
Bottle or Sippy Cup. If your child uses a bottle or sippy cup, please bring one with you.
Diaper or extra clothing. Bring extra diapers or underwear for your child.
Special Toys. If your child is having surgery, please bring whatever toy or item that gives them comfort.
Do not bring valuables with you. We cannot be responsible for any lost or stolen items. We will be happy to provide you with a locker in which to store your belongings.
Bringing your medications with you. If you are taking any medications, please bring them with you on the day of surgery. Your physician may prescribe medications for you to bring with you on the day of surgery.
Waiting time for each procedure
The time for each procedure varies. You will be informed by a staff member how long the procedure should take. If it takes longer, we will try to keep you posted as to what is happening. At least one parent should remain on the premises while their child is in surgery.
You will be given a brief survey to complete and return to us in a self-addressed, stamped envelope. Your comments are welcome.
You will receive a telephone call from one of the nurses from the ENT Surgical Center to check on your child. Please notify the Recovery Room nurse if you plan to be at a telephone number other than your home.
